Reaction between potassium permanganate and iron(II) sulfate
Potassium permangnate, iron(II) sulfate and concentrated sulfuric acid.
Iron(II) sulfate is dissolved in water.
Sulfuric acid is added.
Potassium permanganate is dissolved in water.
Shaking accelerates the dissolution.
The two solutions are added.
Immediate discolouration of permanganate is seen, the manganese(II) ion (light pink) produced is not perceptible.
The iron(III) ion produced has a brownish colour.
