The art of dilution
Dilution of a concentrated permanganate solution
Use ← and →
The material: graduated flask, beaker, pipette..
The graduated flask is washed with distilled water.
Part of the concentrated solution is introduced into a beaker.
The pipette is washed with distilled water.
The pipette is washed with the concentrated solution.
An exactly measured volume is taken with the pipette.
This volume is introduced in the graduated flask.
Distilled water is introduced up to 3/4 of the volume.
The graduated flask is stoppered.
The graduated flask is shaken.
Distilled water is introduced up to the volume.
The level must match exactly the lowest point of the meniscus. An error of parallax must be avoided.
The flask is stoppered and homogenized.
The dilute solution is now ready for use.
