Try to formulate arguments to explain the following:
- The pentan-1-amine is soluble in all proportions in water while pentan-1-ol is insoluble.
- Butan-1-amine is soluble in all proportions in water while butan-1-ol is little soluble therein
.
These amines can form more hydrogen bonds with the water molecules than alcohols!
In addition, the electron pair of the nitrogen of the amine is more available (lower electronegativity of $N$) than the electron pairs of alcohol oxygen atoms, which facilitates interaction with the $\delta^+$ of the hydrogen of the water molecule.
