On a hot plate are heated
- acetone
(propan-2-one $CH_3COCH_3$),
- water,
- ethanol
and
- diethylether
$CH_3CH-O-CH_2CH_3$.
(The arrangement is not in that order!)

In what order do these four liquids boil and why?
The order of boiling is:
ether $\lt$ acetone $\lt$ alcohol $\lt$ water
Each water molecule forms two hydrogen bonds, alcohol one , acetone does not form any but has only the polar $C=O$ carbonyl group.
In diethyl ether, the $I\;+$ effect of the two ethyl groups strongly attenuates polarity.
