The Lewis structures of the most current atoms.

Gilbert N. Lewis (1875 - 1946)

Valence electrons are represented by dots. The nucleus and the inner electrons are represented by the symbol of the element. Around the symbol four boxes are reserved. Every box has room for 2 electrons. First the boxes are filled with one electron, only after having traveled around, the second electron enters a box. A filled box with two electrons is represented by a dash.

Atoms of a same family have the same Lewis structure (exception: He| ).
